Pomp Duck And Circumstance
Info
Even in ancient Rome, bread and circuses were a time-tested means of providing sensual pleasure on several levels at the same time. “Panem et Circenses” was also the name of the concept first realized by Hans-Peter Wodarz in Munich in 1990 and renamed “Pomp Duck And Circumstance” three years later. This restaurant-cum-theater in the “Salon Zazou”, a historic, air-conditioned mirror palace, is able not only to entertain its guests with an up-tempo mixture of vaudeville, circus arts and slapstick, but also to pamper their palates with a veritable fireworks of culinary delicacies.
Starting situation
A show that is of high artistic and culinary quality needs music to match – strong, tasteful in quality and rich in variations, able to fulfill a variety of different functions. It serves as the musical foundation for the event, accompanies the artistic performances, is often part of the action on stage and also provides background music for the meals.
Implementation
In close consultation with the respective directors, artists and producers, tailored pieces were composed and arranged which have been integrated into the respective overall concept. Pomp Duck And Circumstance treats itself to a live six-man band featuring outstanding musicians. The unusual combination of instruments – trumpet, saxophone/flute, violin/guitar, piano/synthesizer, bass and drums – enables them to serve up a musical repertoire rich in styles and genres ranging from Baroque to rock to jazz and folk.
Result
The music at Pomp Duck And Circumstance was a key factor in helping the show achieve worldwide success and fame, and now entertains guests with spirit, variety and surprises of superior quality.
